Possibility. That’s the spirit at Industries of the Blind.
Be part of the amazing transformations that happen every day at IOB.
Since 1933, Industries of the Blind has worked to eliminate barriers by fostering an inclusive workplace that empowers our visually impaired and blind community to do more than they imagine.
We invite you to be a critical partner in helping us fulfill our mission. Our funding priorities and new initiatives are focused on supporting and promoting personal growth, independence and quality of life.
Assistive Technology and Adaptive Aids
Have you ever imagined what it would be like to cross the street, prepare a meal, choose clothing or read your mail if you were visually impaired or blind? Today, there are many adaptive aids that make everyday tasks safe and possible. Many of these essential devices can be cost prohibitive. Your support will help ensure that these life-altering resources are readily available to those who need them most.
Computer Training and Technology Center
Whether it’s to read mail, email a letter to their child’s school, navigate social media and the Internet, or learn how to use JAWS (a screen reader that converts text to speech), IOB plans to set up a computer lab to provide access and training to assist our visually impaired and blind associates.
Job Readiness Training and Professional Development
IOB’s vision is to eliminate all barriers for people who are visually impaired or blind. Ensuring that all associates have the proper skills and appropriate training is critical to their success and to our mission. IOB is committed to encouraging and providing opportunities for personal and professional growth as well as career advancement. Your partnership will help support our visually impaired and blind associates with professional development experiences that include job readiness training, continuing education, professional mentorship and career path charting.
Contact Richard Oliver, Director of Business Development, to explore how you can take part in a truly unique partnership opportunity. We are always looking for help marketing our mission, whether that be through recruiting or advertising on social media.
Coffee Shop Volunteers
In the near future we hope to host UNCG related events at the coffee shop; art galleries, live music, poetry, who knows! We will need some extra hands.
